Lia Bosch, MSOD, SHRM-SCP, ACC: Secretary

How many years have you been coaching, and what inspired you to become a professional coach?

Coaching has been an integral part of my work as an HR and business leader for over 20 years, supporting individuals and organizations in growth and performance. Over the past two years, I’ve been intentional about transitioning from advisory and consulting work to expanding my coaching practice. This commitment led me to pursue formal education and certification with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), deepening my expertise and dedication to the profession.

What is the primary focus or niche of your coaching practice, and If you could have any fictional character as a coaching client, who would it be?

My coaching practice focuses on leadership and business coaching, with a special emphasis on helping leaders grow their influence, expand their impact, and increase their awareness of how they show up to others. If I could have any fictional character as a coaching client, it would be Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. He’s an overachiever with brilliance and drive, but also scattered in focus and often completely unaware of how his words and actions land with those around him. Coaching could help him build self-awareness, strengthen his relationships, and channel his intellect in ways that inspire rather than alienate others.

What unique skills, experiences, or perspectives will you contribute to our ICF chapter as a board member?

I bring to the ICF chapter board experience serving on both professional and non-profit boards, giving me a broad perspective on governance and collaboration. My background in small business management allows me to contribute practical, results-oriented approaches that balance strategy with action. In addition, I bring a strong foundation in Appreciative Inquiry, which deeply influences my approach to challenges with a positive, forward-focused mindset.

What is one goal you’d love to achieve as a board member to strengthen our chapter and support its members?

Establish our chapter as the indispensable coaching resource that local businesses actively seek out and cannot imagine operating without.

What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know, and how does it shape who you are as a coach or leader?

I lived in Italy for five years as a pre-teen and had to learn a completely new language. When I returned to Canada, I had to relearn English from scratch. This experience taught me adaptability, empathy, and the value of curiosity over judgment, which I bring to helping clients navigate change, embrace challenges, and grow with confidence.
